Remembering Doris Roberts

"I'm not just some trophy wife."

"Trophy wife? What contest in hell did I win?"

Anyone who watched the iconic "Everybody Loves Raymond" will never forget that quote. The quote symbolized the yin and yang of Marie and Frank Barone, the parental units of Ray. Marie, always displaying a kind and warm face but dripping with incredible sarcasm and wit. Frank, always getting after Marie for anything under the sun. Their chemistry oozed off the set and really drove "Everybody Loves Raymond" to incredible heights. Peter Boyle, the actor who played Frank passed away back in 2006. And now we have lost the other half of the acting marriage, with Doris Roberts passing away this week at the age of 90.

Doris had the respect of the entire acting world with her tireless work efforts and professionalism no matter where she worked. Besides her career on TV, she also starred in movies with a memorable appearance in "Grandma's Boy," a cult classic. She graced home televisions everywhere with her presence as a warm and kind mother, but having an incredible ability to use passive insults to get under anyone's skin.

Fellow actors took to Twitter to share their memories:

Leah Remini: "Rest in peace our funny lady."

Tyler Perry: "God thank you for 90 years of Doris Roberts on this planet. You left us laughing!! You left us better!!"

And of course from Patricia Heaton, the actress who played Debra Barone: "Truly the end of an era. My wonderful TV mother-in-law and ELR nemesis Doris Roberts was a consummate professional from whom I learned so much. She was funny and tough and loved life, living it to the fullest. Nothing gave her greater joy than her three wonderful grandchildren, of whom she was so proud. It truly was a privilege Doris, I love you and miss you."

Hats off to Doris Roberts for her incredible work. She made us laugh, cry, smile, and get angry at the TV, sometimes all at once. Rest in Peace Doris, and may you continue to keep everyone smiling wherever you are!
